Biomedical Science Laboratory Technician (0.75fte) whilst undertaking a part-time PhD Bursary (0.25fte)

Salary range: £26,707 to £28,031 per annum pro rata
£20,030 to £21,023 per annum
Bursary £3,125 plus Fees Waiver


About this role
We are currently recruiting for a Biomedical Science Laboratory Technician to support the Faculty of Health, Science and Engineering. The post holder will maintain laboratory facilities and equipment, and demonstrate use of equipment to staff and students whilst also undertaking a part time PhD. The post holder will be required to carry out duties primarily across the Biomedical Science degree programmes plus support other staff across the Faculty and work in multiple laboratories.

About you
You will hold a BSc or equivalent in Biomedical Science or a related Biological Science and demonstrate knowledge of Biomedical laboratory equipment, such as cell culture. You will have experience of working in a laboratory or academic environment and will have an exercise, environmental or human physiology and /or a life science background. A high level of organisational and communication skills are essential for the role.

This post is offered with a 0.25 fte PhD bursary with part time fee waiver.


About the team
The Faculty of Health, Science and Engineering has a strong research environment and has achieved excellent results in the most recent Research Excellence Framework with 83% of research rated internationally excellent or world leading. The Biomedicine area is new to the University and collaborates with both the Allied Health, Nursing, Sports and Physical Activity plus Engineering staff within the Faculty. Our research strengths are in the areas of Digital Pathology, Bioinformatics plus Biochemistry applied to Cancer, Neurodegenerative diseases, and the Applied Sport and Exercise areas.
