We are seeking an organised, detail-focused Accounts Assistant to join my clients finance team in Newport. This role is ideal for a motivated finance professional who takes pride in accuracy and enjoys supporting efficient financial operations within a growing business.
Hours: 40 hours/week | Rota’d shifts between Monday to Friday (08:00–18.00), 1 in 3 Saturdays (10.00–16.00)

Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger & Payments
* Process supplier invoices accurately, ensuring correct coding and appropriate approvals
* Support the preparation of supplier payment runs
Sales Ledger
* Raise customer invoices, allocate receipts, and maintain accurate customer account records
Bank Reconciliations
* Complete weekly and month-end bank reconciliations
* Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Credit Control
* Monitor aged debtors and professionally follow up on outstanding balances
Financial Accuracy & Compliance
* Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and cut-off procedures are adhered to
* Assist with the preparation of VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records within the accounting system
Month-End Support
* Prepare and post routine journals, including accruals and prepayments
* Reconcile key balance sheet accounts
* Assist in preparing supporting schedules for the trial balance
Requirements
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a varied accounting role
* Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks or Sage accounting software
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* AAT Level 2–4 or equivalent qualification
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
