As a Driver, you will be required to complete a KCC Minibus Driver Assessment and Passenger Safety course before commencing driving duties. You will also need to show a valid driving licence.
KCC pays mileage; you need to show a valid driving licence, MOT certificate, and Business use insurance. We pay 45p per mile for work-related mileage (over and above your usual home to work mileage).
We have an exciting opportunity within our Community Day Service. You will work across Dartford, Gravesham, and Swanley, supporting individuals with learning and/or physical disabilities to access and participate in their local community. You will work from various hubs within these localities.
You will assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of people with learning disabilities by using a person-centered approach, providing encouragement, support, and assistance. You will promote social inclusion, rights, and choice under the supervision of a senior staff member and within County and Directorate procedures, as well as primary care legislation, to enable people with learning disabilities to live more independent and fulfilled lives.
Relevant experience in care and support of individuals (including voluntary and personal experiences) in the public, private, or voluntary sectors is required, especially in caring for adults with learning disabilities. Awareness of the needs of people with challenging behavior, autism, epilepsy, and other disabilities is necessary.
You will be expected to drive the minibus in accordance with the Highway Code, the County Council's Code of Practice for Minibus Drivers, and training provided by the Road Safety Unit to ensure safety for clients, staff, and the public.
This role requires holding a full UK Driving Licence.
You will need to complete all mandatory training relevant to the role.
This post involves a split shift: two hours in the morning (08:00 - 10:00) and two hours in the afternoon (15:00 - 17:00).
The position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
This is a customer-facing role. The Council has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure post holders have sufficient command of spoken English/Welsh for effective job performance, as outlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
