Are you looking for something a little different? This specialist civil/structural consultancy is an award‑winning firm that focuses on assessing, maintaining and extending the serviceable life of a wide range of damaged and deteriorating concrete structures. An Irish firm established over 20 years, with a growing London/M25 presence and workload. The London team currently has one Associate and one engineer and are seeking another mid‑level person to join their team.
The role involves a mix of office work and site tasks, including forensic engineering and failure analysis, structural assessment, inspections and load testing, cathodic protection, structural health monitoring, expert witness work, materials testing and report writing. Structures may include bridges, tunnels, buildings, underground chambers, wharfs, jetties, pipelines and car parks.
Site responsibilities: collecting material samples, surveying, working on high platforms for multi‑storey buildings, and accessing tunnels and confined spaces. Prerequisites: able to use a drill and a driver’s licence.
The scope is broad; you need a good understanding of civil and structural works, common sense, and communication skills. The role is not a hands‑on structural design position but requires writing structural reports and offering solutions and recommendations. Use of AutoCAD is useful.
Mid‑level engineer with at least 2 years of experience, either from a contractor or a consultant. Ability to work under supervision initially with an Associate. Willingness for occasional travel to Ireland.
In addition to basic salary, there is healthcare, paid overtime, pension, laptop, phone, company car or mileage paid.
