The Role
As a Network Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. In this role you will have the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced moving programme with respect to the Skynet service delivery wrap that is being produced by Babcock.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide third line support to the network, undertaking fault investigations and performing upgrades and enhancements. You will support an on-call rota for out of hours support. Experience the design and security aspect of Military communication networks would also be valuable.
1. Responding to customer faults and network incidents.
2. Managing the installation and configuration of new system elements.
3. Test and commissioning of new equipment and services.
4. Ensuring new services and systems meet UK security requirements.
5. Managing obsolescence within the existing system to ensure the system remains supportable and compliant to security requirements and provide third line support to operations teams.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home dependent on business needs.
Essential Experience of the Network Engineer
6. Experience in the design and delivery of Internet Protocol communication networks, ideally with Cisco accreditation.
7. Knowledge of Voice over Internet Protocol network architectures.
8. Knowledge of Satellite communications technology would be an advantage.
9. Experience working in a telecommunications or satellite communication company and understanding of serial communications services.
Qualifications for the Network Engineer
10. Degree or lesser qualification with equivalent demonstratable experience in a relevant Engineering Discipline.
11. A valid Cisco Professional (CCNP) certification is preferred, demonstration of working at this level is also acceptable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate will need to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance once in post.
