Senior Electrical Design Engineer

£48,000 - £60,000
Gateshead
You will lead the electrical design for a range of projects, from concept and detailed design to installation support and commissioning. Projects span retail, education, healthcare, residential and commercial developments, giving you exposure to diverse and technically interesting work. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of the team, helping ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
This is an office-based role with a collaborative, hands-on culture. You will work closely with colleagues, clients and contractors, with opportunities to develop your technical and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead electrical design for building services projects with minimal supervision
* Mentor and guide a small team of engineers
* Plan, manage and deliver projects to agreed budgets and timelines
* Liaise directly with clients, contractors and suppliers
* Provide technical input and support throughout installation and commissioning stages
* Deliver solutions compliant with current regulations and sustainability standards
The Ideal Candidate
* Proven experience in electrical design within a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy
* Knowledge of 230V power distribution systems
* Proficient in electrical CAD packages such as Amtech and Dialux
* Experience working to ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management standards
* Degree-qualified in electrical engineering, with chartership preferred or underway
* Strong communicator, able to work independently and collaboratively
* Knowledge of current wiring regulations is desirable
