You will play a key role in shaping and driving a strong EHS culture across our construction activities and Leeds manufacturing site. In this dynamic, hands-on role, youll partner with cross-functional teams to elevate safety standards, ensure compliance, and continuously improve performance across the business.
What you'll do:
* Conducting regular EHS audits and inspections for the Leeds & Newton Aycliffe sites, with some inspections at UK construction sites
* Travelling across the UK (and occasionally Ireland) to support site teams
* Advising and supporting operational teams to ensure legal compliance and audit readiness
* Driving a positive safety culture through engagement activities and leading KPIs
* Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and non-conformance reporting
* Identifying trends and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
* Supporting ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001) and managing accreditations (e.g. CHAS, Constructionline)
* Assisting with pre-construction and tender processes
* Promoting the use of digital tools (EHS App, Field View) and supporting IMS development
* Managing personal injury claims and supporting reporting processes
* Collaborating closely with SHEQ, Quality, and Technical teams
* Supporting the EHS Manager and Head of SHEQ
* Leading by example and championing Etex values throughout the business
What youll bring:
* Proven EHS experience within a manufacturing environment
* Strong understanding of EHS legislation, construction regulations, and ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001)
* Practical knowledge of key risk areas including temporary works, lifting operations, working at height, and work equipment (incl. LOTOTO)
* Ability to engage, influence, and drive a positive safety culture across all levels
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying trends and driving improvements
* Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively
* Comfortable acting as a subject matter expert and making decisions in a fast-paced environment
* Willing to travel regularly, including overnight stays
* Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and digital tools)
