Materials Procurement Leader – GE Aerospace
Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Site Supply Chain Business Leader, the Materials Procurement Leader will enable effective delivery fulfilment, operational success and customer satisfaction for the GE Wales facility. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication and delivery of the strategy and goals of the GE Wales business, and develop and execute objectives for themselves and the team.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Lead both short- and long-term business goals and manage a team of Shop Floor, Materials and Sourcing personnel.
* Own all aspects of Materials management, including operational responsibility for materials supply inventory and fulfillment.
* Set departmental KPIs (predictive where possible) and hold the team accountable to achieve them.
* Act as the point of escalation for Sourcing, planning and materials teams, driving key issues with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensure full kit availability to the business in line with the plan.
* Manage inventory and material deflation for the site.
* Oversee Materials Fulfilment and ownership of subcontract & new material streams, including supplier management.
* Manage staff, development and continuous improvement of internal processes and external supply of materials.
* Understand the business strategy and anticipate requirements to support its delivery.
* Implement and lead material strategy for the product line.
* Effectively manage labour, materials and capacity in line with the product life cycle.
* Integrate customer commitments with shop, new supply and vendor capacities to assure on-time deliveries.
* Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, especially the Supply Chain Business Leader.
* Interface with key stakeholders both internal and external to the Wales site.
Required Qualifications
* Proven ability to manage and develop a large team to support business requirements.
* Experience in manufacturing, materials planning and execution.
* Experience using an ERP system.
Desired Characteristics
* Knowledge of MRP orders and processes.
* Strong oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Advanced experience in materials planning and execution.
* Prior SAP knowledge is advantageous.
