Job Purpose
This hybrid role offers an excellent development opportunity for a Senior Solicitor/Associate Solicitor to work within the Belfast Team dealing with higher value claims in the High Court. You will handle high value High Court cases, including Subrogated Recoveries, Property, Risks and Coverage (PRC) claims, working closely with insurers, insureds, loss adjusters, and brokers.
The PRC team resolves claims such as property damage, recoveries, policy disputes, fraud, subsidence, construction, farming, product liability, and household and commercial claims. Experience with complex indemnity and liability issues, as well as Casualty claims (Employer’s Liability and Public Liability), is preferred.
You will supervise junior colleagues, providing advice, guidance, and feedback. Key Responsibilities
* Managing your own caseload of claims, mainly in the High Court.
* Communicating with insurer clients, handling queries, and providing updates.
* Analyzing quantum evidence, preparing chronologies, and identifying anomalies.
* Using your medical knowledge to instruct experts and identify key issues.
* Drafting technical advice on indemnity, liability, quantum, and causation.
* Identifying next steps and taking proactive actions.
* Interviewing witnesses, drafting statements, pleadings, and applications.
* Instructing counsel, attending conferences, mediations, and court proceedings.
* Meeting performance and quality standards.
* Supervising and developing junior team members.
* Maintaining case management systems and ensuring compliance.
* Participating in business development activities.
Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, with an unpaid lunch break. The primary location is Belfast Office.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Essential: Qualified solicitor or relevant legal experience, experience in indemnity, liability, and quantum, and knowledge of complex medical issues is preferred. Strong analytical, advocacy, communication, and client care skills. Ability to plan, prioritize, and work under pressure. Confident, proactive, and able to supervise juniors.
