The role
fThe School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies (SPAIS) is seeking to appoint an experienced and committed teacher to the post of Lecturer in Sociology (Pathway 3 teaching-focused, 0.8 FTE, Open Ended with Fixed funding until 31/08/2027).
They will support the delivery of our Sociology programmes and student experience.
We particularly welcome applicants with the ability to teach in the following areas: the Sociology of Childhood and Rights, Sexuality & Society and introductory units in Sociology.
What will you be doing?
The role-holder will contribute to teaching on our UG and PGT Sociology programmes. They will be expected to supervise undergraduate dissertations, undertake personal tutoring, perform a teaching-related administrative role in the School and contribute to SPAIS events and student experience initiatives.
You should apply if
1. A PhD in Sociology (or related).
2. Experience of providing teaching in Sociology, to both small and large groups across undergraduate and postgraduate units.
3. Proven ability to teach in the following areas: the Sociology of Childhood and Rights, Sexuality & Society and introductory units in Sociology.
4. Experience of supervising undergraduate dissertations.
5. Proven ability to provide engaging, research-led teaching, with appropriate use of contemporary pedagogical methods.
6. Experience of developing teaching materials, including online.
7. Experience of providing academic and pastoral support to students.
