Job Overview Job purpose Thank you for your interest in the post of Joinery Modern Apprentice with Historic Environment Scotland (HES). This post will be based with Johnstone Joinery Ltd in Inverness with opportunities for travel to other parts of Scotland. This role is designed for individuals passionate about traditional building skills, who want to begin a rewarding career in construction and building conservation. This 4-year post will combine practical on-site training with structured learning, leading to a Modern Apprenticeship SCQF Level 6 Construction: Building, Joinery and Carpentry award. You will be employed by HES whilst seconded on Apprenticeship placement with a respected joinery firm in Inverness. You will gain hands-on training and experience in the workplace to enable you to complete a Scottish Vocational Qualification in Joinery and Carpentry and attend college for training to complete a Professional Development Award. The role will also involve regular travel to a training provider and occasional travel to The Engine Shed in Stirling. Expenses will be covered by HES for this travel, willingness to travel is essential. You will be provided with a laptop for course work and communication purposes. A genuine interest in a career in joinery, construction and building conservation. A willingness to learn and develop new skills. A desire to complete a SCQF Level 6 Modern Apprenticeship in Construction Building, Carpentry and Joinery. An ability to work well and adapt within a team. Be confident and able to work outdoors in a manual labour position, with reasonable adjustments considered to support individual needs where required.
