Copplestone Parish Council are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and community-minded Parish Council Clerk to become the backbone of the Parish Council and help shape the future of the village. This is a rewarding and varied role at the heart of local democracy. As Clerk, you will work closely with elected councillors, residents, and local partners to ensure the smooth running of council business and the delivery of projects that enhance the community.

Copplestone Parish Council is a parish council in Devon serving the village of Copplestone, the population is 1303 (2021 census). The council has set a precept of £41,000 for 2026/2027. Copplestone Parish Council plays a vital role in representing and supporting the local community. It ensures residents’ views are heard, particularly on planning and local services, and works to improve the quality of life in the parish.

The Council manages and maintains community facilities such as parks, allotments, and public spaces, sets a local budget funded through the council tax precept, and supports local initiatives and events. At its heart, the Parish Council exists to serve the community, strengthen local identity, and make a positive difference to everyday life.


Overall Purpose of the Role

The Parish Clerk is the principal administrative officer of the Parish Council, responsible for ensuring that the Council’s instructions are carried out, statutory duties are met, and high quality support is provided to councillors and residents. The Clerk is also the primary point of contact for the public and external organisations. As Responsible Financial Officer (RFO), the postholder also manages the Council’s financial affairs in accordance with proper practices.


Hours to be worked

Part-time Minimum of 10 hours per week, up to 15 hours as required.
