Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro rata)

Overview
The Consultant Psychiatrist will provide consultant and approved clinician responsibility for all patients on Willow Ward. Key duties include admission assessment, diagnosis, treatment, reviewing, mental health act administration, tribunal preparation and attendance, and supervision of junior staff. The role also offers opportunities for medical leadership on a three‑year basis, such as Divisional Medical Director or Clinical Director positions, and for shaping service development and evidence‑based practice.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality, efficient, and effective psychiatric care for all patients in the ward.
* Conduct prompt and comprehensive assessment of admissions.
* Diagnose and treat patients, regularly reviewing progress.
* Ensure proper administration of the Mental Health Act for detained patients.
* Prepare tribunal reports and attend tribunals.
* Delegate, organise, and supervise junior medical staff.
* Participate in service development, research, and evidence‑based innovation.
* Take on leadership roles (Divisional Medical Director or Clinical Director) on a three‑year basis if desired.
Qualifications
* MB, BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) with licence.
* Approved Clinician status.
Essential Skills
* Excellent knowledge of psychiatric speciality.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Ability to meet duties under the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act.
* Capability to work in, and lead, a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience in research and service provision.
