We are currently recruiting for a welcoming and inclusive specialist secondary school set to open in September 2025, located in Caterham, Surrey. The school is committed to providing a high-quality education in a safe and nurturing environment for young people with special educational needs. Dedicated staff will work together to make a real difference in the lives of our students, and we are looking for a skilled and reliable Site Manager/Caretaker to join the team.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive individual to take responsibility for the day-to-day management, safety, security, and maintenance of the school site.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the security, cleanliness, and general maintenance of school buildings and grounds
Carry out basic repairs, decorating, and maintenance tasks
Manage contractors and monitor site works when required
Ensure compliance with fire safety and building regulations
Open and close the school premises as required, including during events or emergencies
Monitor heating, lighting, and utilities systems
Essential Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in a site manager/caretaker or similar role
Strong understanding of building maintenance, health & safety, and facilities management
Practical skills in DIY, repairs, and general maintenance
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
Experience working in a school or educational setting
Health and Safety qualifications (e.g. COSHH, IOSH)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
