Job Description
As a 2nd Line WINTEL Engineer, you will contribute to building a more sustainable world by working with new technologies within a team that values the sharing of ideas to build a better service.
Responsibilities
* Review customer Windows‑related work requests with quick turn‑around responses for complete and detailed requirements.
* Use automation to build images, documents, work instructions, and to build and configure Windows servers (mostly virtual and hosted on VMware clusters).
* Build and rack physical servers with customer data centres and computer rooms.
* Update and maintain existing gold build images.
* Patch and upgrade Windows servers.
* Prepare capacity‑management reports and attend bi‑weekly engineering meetings to provide progress updates on outstanding tickets.
* Ensure server builds adhere to Fujitsu and customer standards; attend customer and Fujitsu sites when required to ensure deliverables are completed within target SLA’s and KPI’s.
* Raise immediately any risks or issues that may impact cost, delivery timescales, or overall solution deployments.
* Assist in testing activities.
* Engage in projects further afield from time to time as required.
* Work from assigned service‑desk tickets to investigate, assess, and resolve customer and system issues within SLA timescales, following defined procedures and all IS policy documents, including Change & Release, Configuration, and Security.
* Maintain the security of network services in accordance with the establishment’s Security Operating Orders and current process documentation.
Qualifications & Transferable Skills
* Experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022.
* Proficiency in AD (Active Directory), DNS, and WSUS.
* Experience with VMware.
* Knowledge of backups (NetApp SAN and Cohesity).
* Experience with Microsoft System Centre Operations.
* Scripting skills.
* Security clearance to a high level (must be able to obtain clearance).
Hours of Work
Our support requirements are Mon‑Fri between 07:00 and 19:00. You will cover 37 hours per week with a typical day from 07:00–15:30 or 10:30–19:00. There is no weekend working; overtime may be available, which may include weekends.
