We require an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist, with an interest in working in the Acute physical setting, to join our team. This is a fixed‑term post for 7 months, starting no earlier than 1 May 2026.
If you are looking to develop your higher Band 5 skills, this post will also be suitable. You will be supported by experienced staff and have the opportunity to develop both clinical and leadership skills.
Rotation Programme
The post will be based mainly at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI) within the Therapies Department. The six‑month rotational programme enables you to develop clinical skills, contribute to the Leadership pillar of practice and gain experience across a range of acute hospital specialities, including:
* Medical / Surgical (including Emergency Department and Admissions Unit)
* Orthopaedics
* Rehabilitation
* Medicine for the Elderly
You may also complete a new rotation between DGRI and the Community Rehab Unit at Mountainhall Treatment Centre, Dumfries. This will allow you to deliver rehabilitation services and develop skills in providing ongoing rehabilitation for patients either as outpatients or within their own homes. Ability to travel independently is required for this Community rotation.
Working Hours and Support
The Acute OT service operates 7 days a week, and you would be expected to work on weekends and public holidays as part of an agreed rota. This will be discussed at interview. The service offers a friendly and supportive working environment that actively supports CPD together with an established supervision appraisal system (TURAS) and work‑based training.
