Youth Work Officer
Salary: £26,269 - £28,053 Full time position
Oldham College is looking for an inspiring Youth Work Officer to join our Personal Development team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, helping them grow in confidence, resilience, and ambition.
As a Youth Work Officer, you will lead on exciting youth-led social action projects, develop and deliver a social prescribing model, and offer responsive support for students who are disengaged or facing personal challenges. You will play a key role in empowering student voice, boosting wellbeing, and connecting learners to enrichment and community-based opportunities.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education, creative engagement, and supporting students to overcome barriers and reach their potential.
What Youll Be Doing
* Designing and delivering impactful social action and wellbeing projects
* Leading group sessions and 1:1 support focused on personal development, confidence, and resilience
* Developing referral pathways to emotional and social support services
* Working closely with internal teams and external organisations to connect learners with meaningful opportunities
* Supporting student engagement strategies, especially for those at risk or facing difficulties
* Promoting student voice, peer mentoring, and inclusive practice across the college
* Contributing to outreach, parental engagement, and attendance at EHCP reviews or case conferences where relevant
What Were Looking For
* Experience of youth-led projects, mentoring or social action initiatives
* Knowledge of emotional wellbeing support in youth or educational settings
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with ]young people
* Experience managing a caseload and driving improvements in student wellbeing or engagement
* A team player who thrives in a multi-agency environment
* A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion
It would be great if you had these. But not essential:
* Experience in FE or post-16 settings
* Awareness of local services, youth support networks, or outcomes tracking tools
* A project or events management qualification
* Ability to carry out home or community visits
