Job overview
We are looking for enthusiastic Paediatric Registered Nurses to join our Paediatric Emergency Department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an exciting time to join our Emergency Department and will provide you with a unique challenge, as we have recently moved into a new, purpose built Urgent and Emergency Care development. Our dedicated Paediatric area provides Children from 0-16 with a bright and welcoming space to receive the very best of care.
Our Emergency Department is an evolving and continuously developing service which sees a wide array of presentations from injuries to acute illness. This role will be key in delivering exceptional, patient centric, care to patients and provides an opportunity for you to make a difference within our emergency care setting for the children and young people in need of our service.
Main duties of the job
You will enjoy a challenging, varied pace and exciting working environment caring for all children, young people and their families who attend with a range of emergency presentations, acute illnesses, and injuries. We have a dedicated paediatric bay in our resuscitation area to provide emergency care, and we work closely with our inpatient paediatric ward and emergency paediatric retrieval service.
There are many opportunities to develop clinical skills and for career progression. You will be supported by the wider Emergency Department Team and Clinical Educators from both Paediatrics and Emergency Care to develop a bespoke training and development package. We will work with you on your personal and professional develop plan to ensure your career development is supported and to enable you to achieve your career goals.

Qualifications and Training
* Registered Children's Nurse (Level 1, RN8)
* Paediatric Immediate Life Support
Experience
* Evidence of recent professional developent
* Experience working in an acute paediatric setting.
* Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience taking charge of an area and managing work load
* Experience supervising students in practice
Skills/Knowledge/Ability
* Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and electronic
* Ability to work under pressure across competing demands
* Able to provide up to date evidence based care
* Able to undertake a holistic A-E assessment
* IV Cannulation Venepuncture
* ECG recording
* Competent in minor injury treatments +/- suturing
* Able to work within departmental PGD's
