Our client is an industry leading manufacturer who have a rich history spanning 80+ years and who's technical products work closely with well-known FMCG customers. Following recent acquisition by a global manufacturing group the Chorley site is now entering an exciting new chapter including expansion of the site, investment in capital equipment and expanded product range to be manufactured out of Chorley.
The Role
Reporting into the General Manager and working closely with both production and commercial colleagues, you will be responsible for all Purchasing activities at the Chorley site across both direct and indirect spend to ensure Production demand is met in full. You will manage multiple suppler relationships in a commercial manner evaluating performance and opportunities for improvement, whilst monitoring and manging inventory and reorder levels. The role offers the successful candidate a great opportunity to make significant improvements on current Purchasing processes and performance at the Chorley operation.
What they're looking for
The successful candidate will have demonstrable career experience within Purchasing as a Buyer or similar developing level e.g. Planner, Purchasing Officer / Coordinator or Assistant Buyer. Experience within manufacturing is preferred although isn't must have if you have the core experience requirements of managing suppliers, cost / terms negotiation and having worked with MRP / ERP systems as part of your daily Purchasing duties. CIPS qualified, in full or part qualified, is beneficial but nit must have.

The role is a permanent position which offers a competitive salary, 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), 4 and a half day working week and pension. The business will also support candidates currently studying CIPS or candidates wanting to start the qualification.
