Kitchen Assistant – Community Café (St Vincent de Paul Society, Leeds)

About the Role: We are looking for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team at the St Vincent's Community Café in Leeds. You'll play a key role in preparing and serving a range of simple hot and cold meals, drinks, sandwiches, and snacks, ensuring excellent customer service for all café users.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and cook meals (breakfasts, jacket potatoes, salads, daily specials, soups, desserts, etc.)
* Make and serve hot and cold drinks
* Take orders, use the cash register, and serve food
* Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety at all times
* Support the Café Manager and volunteers with daily operations, stock control, and ordering
* Assist with buffets, catering, and events
* Keep the café clean and welcoming for all
What We're Looking For:
* Prior experience working in a kitchen environment
* Excellent understanding of food hygiene procedures and allergen awareness
* Strong communication and customer service skills
* Ability to stay calm and organised in a busy environment
* A positive, community-focused attitude
Desirable:
* Food Hygiene or Food Safety Certifcate (Level 2)
* Experience in the voluntary sector
