Purpose of role

To lead the Contract SHE functions, provide SHE solutions and enable the Contract Leadership / Operational Teams to implement the SHE Management System.

To build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, whilst providing an independent and objective view of SHE Performance on the Contract.

Key Accountabilities

* Develop and provide line management to direct reports and liaise with wider SHE Team
* Support and Influence Contract Leadership Team, Clients and other Stakeholders and compliance with the SHE Management System and Contract Performance
* Ensure delivery of training and coaching, by competent individuals, to allow the contract team to successfully implement the SHE Management System
* Be actively involved in the appointment and ongoing assessment of the Contracts Supply Chain Contractors
* Actively support the delivery of the annual Contract and Group SHE Objectives
* Develop & implement a Contract SHE Assurance programme to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
* Ensure all unplanned events and assurance findings are categorised, investigated and lessons are shared in accordance with the SHE Management System

Key Responsibilities

* Identifies and anticipates risk arising out of the works and uses the principle of predictable behaviour. Develops plans to manage the risk and opportunities and influences the team accordingly
* Develops Project SHE Strategy and ensures that it aligns with the Group and Clients Strategies. Communicates the strategy to the Project Team and tests for understanding within the team. Provides monthly feedback to the Project and Group on performance against objectives
* Understands how KPI's and dashboards feed up and link into the group's strategic goals. Articulates to the team how their performance is impacting on the Strategic Goals for the Project, Sector and Group
* Objectively applies "the letter of the law" during all interactions, yet clearly understands "the spirit of the law" when deciding if action is needed.
* Recognises the limitations of their knowledge and authority in making decisions
* Does truth to power, even when the downstream impact could be negative, calls out inappropriate behaviours and when people aren't doing what they say
* Communicates concerns or breaches and supports the site team in the development of solutions
* Develops plans to address performance and ensures that objectives and standards are realised

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualification

* 5 years SHE related experience
* Relevant Degree or Diploma or equivalent NVQ Level 6
Working towards MIEMA or CMIOSH or equivalent
* Proven experience delivering large infrastructure projects in a regulated environment.
* Demonstrated management of multidisciplinary teams.
* 5 years SHE related experience
* Ensure compliance with the SHE management system.
* Demonstrate strong and active leadership for SHE, setting high standards.
* Accountable for all Health, Safety and Wellbeing on the project.
