SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

RESPONSIBLE TO: Operations Managers

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Staff and volunteers as allocated, systems and procedures.

PURPOSE OF POST

As a Manager you will provide effective support to the Senior Management Team to ensure that the members are safe, comfortable and fully engaged in educational, social and vocational activities.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the duties and responsibilities of an Enabler you will:

1. Support the Operations Managers and Tier 2 staff to develop, plan and co-ordinate and be pro-active in driving forward in-house and external activities to ensure that the members develop skills that maximises their potential to live as independent a life as possible. You will regularly liaise and work closely with the Senior Management Team in the development, planning and monitoring of members activities.

2.Supervise Volunteers, Personal Assistants, Agency workers and Students, being responsible for their induction and general welfare whilst on placement.

3.Deputise for the Operations Managers.

4.Take responsibility for safeguarding, cash handling and medication administration procedures and be accountable for any errors or omissions made personally.

5.Act as Line Manager and Supervisor for up to four staff members and to ensure that they develop their skills, abilities and confidence. Ensure that sufficient staffing cover is available at the unit by restricting leave, when necessary, and by seeking support from the senior management team during peak absences.

6.To be aware of occupancy levels and financial position at the unit you are managing and be actively engaged in the recruitment of new Members and fundraising activities to support the sustainability of the unit.

Other tasks within the remit of the job may be required from time to time.

The job description will be kept under review to ensure it remains up to date. The jobholder will be consulted about any proposed changes.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION – DEPUTY OPERATIONS MANAGER

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

1.Ability to work in and manage a team.

2.Ability to communicate effectively, verbally using I.T and in writing, with a range of people inside and outside the organisation.

3.Ability to develop, plan, facilitate and co-ordinate a range of activities suitable for people with varying degrees of disability.

4.Ability to line manage and develop others.

5.Able to act decisively and confidently with or without the support of your line manager.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

N.V.Q. Level 3 or equivalent in Health & Social Care or working towards.

D1 Driving Licence or ability to achieve within twelve months of promotion or initial employment.

EXPERIENCE

Experience of managing a team of Health & Social Care staff or proven ability to work towards.

Experience related to main areas of the job description but including working with adults with physical and/or learning disabilities in a residential or day service.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £28,995.20 per year
