Band 7 Quality and Safety Advisor
Location: Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality and Safety Advisor to join our Clinical Group Quality & Safety Team. This role supports the delivery of the Trust’s Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and embeds a systems‑based approach to patient safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
Main Duties
* Support the coordination and management of patient safety incidents in line with PSIRF, including triage and identification of appropriate learning responses.
* Facilitate multidisciplinary learning response meetings such as PSII, After Action Reviews and thematic reviews.
* Provide guidance on systems-based investigations, human factors and report quality.
* Ensure Duty of Candour compliance and accurate documentation.
* Monitor and track learning actions, ensuring implementation and evaluation of impact.
* Support investigation of complaints, claims and inquests, ensuring learning is integrated into improvement work.
* Analyse incidents, complaints and patient feedback to identify themes, trends, and risks.
* Contribute to governance reporting and provide assurance to senior committees and external bodies including the CQC.
* Support delivery of quality improvement initiatives, including audit, NICE compliance and PDSA cycles.
* Deliver training and advice to staff on patient safety, governance and risk management.
Person Specification
Skills / Abilities
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify themes and support systems‑based learning and improvement.
* Project management skills and experience leading quality improvement initiatives.
Education / Qualifications
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience in quality governance, patient safety and risk management aligned to PSIRF principles (systems-based approach, just culture, learning responses).
* Master’s degree or equivalent level of knowledge in patient safety, quality improvement or governance.
Experience / Knowledge
* Experience of coordinating or supporting patient safety incident learning responses (e.g. PSII, thematic reviews, multidisciplinary reviews).
* Experience presenting complex reports to senior committees or Board-level groups.
£55,524 to £62,652 a year (inclusive).
