Reference: ba478703 We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to provide support for an 11-year-old young man, he has a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, learning disability and Duane’s syndrome which effects the movement of his eyes. He is nonverbal and has very limited movement. This child uses Makaton to communicate and does make some sounds to make you aware of his feelings. He uses specialty equipment for his physical needs. He enjoys his iPad, going for drives in the car, going on the train and watching Mr Tumble on the TV. You will be required to support with activities he enjoys, any personal care as always needed and ensure his safety. Any training required will be discussed at interview. You should be confident and able to work on your own initiative. We would also like our support worker to be able to suggest things to do out in the community so you should be willing to be proactive in finding various activities to take part in. Hours - 5 hours per week during term time 10 hours per week during school holidays MAIN DUTIES · Assist with personal care needs as required. · You will be required to anticipate needs, as he has limited verbal communication. · Provide social stimulation and progressive levels of activity. · Support to take medication. It would be preferrable for you to drive & have own car. You will be required to provide a business certificate for your insurance. Rate of pay £13.09 per hour.
