We are looking for a Library Learning Facilitator to join our Learning, Teaching and Innovation department.
Based mainly in the David Hockney Library but willing to work at our two other sites, Library Learning Facilitators provide front line support to learners and staff in the access and use of learning resources, including finding books and journals, using laptops and booking study rooms.
The post holder is expected to work effectively with minimum supervision, using initiative, but referring matters of policy or non-routine issues for guidance.
This post also includes an Acquisitions role. Main responsibilities include receiving, processing and receipting new stock using the library management system as directed.
The post will involve working one evening on alternative weeks, either until 6pm or 8pm.
This is a part-time role working hours per week.
Responsibilities include:
1. Supports library users in the access and use of learning materials. This includes finding books, demonstrating the library catalogue, managing book requests, finding journals, booking study rooms and helping with laptop loans.
2. Shows excellent customer service to all students and staff, ensuring the library is inclusive and welcoming.
3. Ensures a welcoming library through shelving, tidying, and processing stock, creating guides and signage, and other administrative duties.
4. Manages behaviour and maintains a safe and secure working environment.
5. Uses and updates the online systems used to support the Library service. Contributes to the collection of usage statistics.
6. Mentors or trains new staff or work experience students where appropriate.
7. Demonstrates teamwork and knowledge sharing, contributing to shared meetings and project groups.
8. Contributes to library-led sessions including reading groups and skills sessions run in and outside of the library.
9. Is responsible for security and disposal of paper and electronic information, some of which is confidential, in line with GDPR Regulations.
10. Supports and contributes to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to all aspects of the Library.
11. Participates in appraisal and takes responsibility for their own continuous professional development as appropriate to the post.
12. Promotes the work of and vision of the Library and College internally and externally.
