Are you a graduate who has studied childcare, mental health, emotional abuse, or child development and are now looking to begin a rewarding career supporting vulnerable children? This part-time SEN Teaching Assistant role in a primary school could be the ideal opportunity to put your knowledge into practice.

We are seeking a nurturing, patient, and committed individual to join a warm and inclusive primary setting, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), learning difficulties, and trauma-related challenges.


What You’ll Be Doing

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll help create a safe, calm, and supportive environment where young children feel understood and ready to learn. Your day-to-day role may include:

* Providing 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with additional needs

* Helping children regulate their emotions and develop positive coping strategies

* Supporting children who may have experienced emotional or physical trauma

* Assisting the class teacher to adapt lessons to meet individual needs

* Encouraging communication, confidence, and social interaction

* Offering reassurance and consistent emotional support throughout the school day


We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:

* A graduate or student of childcare, psychology, mental health, emotional abuse, counselling, or a related field

* Empathetic and calm, especially when supporting children with SEMH needs

* Passionate about helping young children feel safe, supported, and valued

* A patient communicator who can build trust with vulnerable pupils

* Reliable, flexible, and happy to work part time around personal commitments

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
