We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering & Port Administrator to join our Engineering team in Ardrishaig. You will support the engineering and harbour teams, delivering an excellent experience to port users, promoting safety, security, and customer satisfaction, and contributing to revenue generation. You will also promote Scottish Canals products and services, focusing on commercial opportunities that enhance customer experience and benefit Scottish Canals.
The role is offered on a fixed-term basis until January 2026, covering maternity leave, with a starting salary of £30,069 (Band C). Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:00.

Primary responsibilities of the role:
* Support the Crinan canal maintenance team with administration and compliance with legislation and standards.
* Liaise with Scottish Canals groups to deliver and record maintenance on structures and assets.
* Create and maintain standards and processes for Scottish Canals' harbours.
* Document work and activities of harbour and maintenance teams.
* Act as deputy harbour master, with statutory reporting obligations.
* Manage port security data and maintain security plans in accordance with legislation.
* Ensure incident records are maintained, and relevant reports are submitted.
* Manage stakeholder communication, surveys, meetings, and record minutes.
* Handle pier bookings, update port operation records, and manage safety records and invoicing.
* Maintain Marine Safety Management System and oversee port safety, navigation, and traffic management.
* Develop and maintain recording systems and training manuals.
* Arrange meetings, prepare venues, take minutes, and disseminate information.
* Input health and safety data, investigate incidents, and analyze statistics and KPIs.
* Report on tonnages, queries, and maintain business databases and communication channels.
Qualifications and knowledge required:
* Knowledge of PMSC and harbour legislation (desirable).
* Experience in accident/incident and near-miss reporting.
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
* Valid driving license for the vehicle to be driven.
Skills and experience required:
* Customer-facing experience in leisure or customer service environments.
* IT skills, including Microsoft Office and other SC applications.
* Port Facility Security Officer certification (desirable).
* Harbour master awareness (desirable).
* Strong teamwork ethic, time management, and excellent communication skills.
Qualities & abilities required:
* Judgment regarding safety and equipment operation.
* Ability to escalate issues appropriately.
* High levels of customer service, initiative, and professionalism.
* Supportive teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
* Participation in call-out rota.
