Organisation Wycombe Wanderers Football Club Salary £40,000 - £50,000 per annum Location Marlow Road Training Ground Contract type Permanent (Full time) Closing date 19 June 2026 Job Description Job Purpose
To support a world class football development process through the provision of performance physiotherapy support to the 1st Team.
To provide expertise in diagnostics, rehabilitation and emergency management.
To work collaboratively with the club’s Performance, Insights and Coaching staff, and
Player group to optimise performance readiness and availability.
To contribute to a high challenge, high support culture that fosters growth in players and staff.

Key Result Areas
Diagnostics and Assessment Skills
• Conduct thorough assessments and deliver evidence-based treatment plans for first team players, addressing both acute and chronic injuries
• Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning for further diagnostic interventions, such as imaging requests or specialist reviews
• Demonstrate an ability to profile/screen a player, including the use of VALD technologies
• Monitor progress and adjust treatments to ensure effective and efficient programming for both injured and non-injured players
Rehabilitation and Injury Risk Mitigation
• Development of individualised rehabilitation programs, paying respect to the
player’s individual profile and potential contributary risk factors
• Regular subjective and objective monitoring within programs to allow for the reasonable adjustment of rehabilitation plans, in collaboration with the rehabilitation MDT
• Long-term rehabilitation programs should demonstrate:
o A “performance backwards” approach
o Clear evidencing of the injured tissues being progressively loaded, with respect to the player’s profile paired with sound clinical reasoning
• Excellent communication and collaboration with the wider performance staff upon a players re-integration into training and embedding injury risk mitigation interventions within their prep and gym training regimes
• Provide effective treatment for acute and chronic injuries, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and use of modalities such as shockwave and electrotherapy Trauma and Medical Emergencies
• Provide pitch-side assistance during training sessions and matches, delivering immediate care for minor injuries and medical emergencies, as required
• Manage the preparation of medical equipment and supplies for training sessions and match days
• Support in the provision of match day preparations for both home and away matches, as required by the Head of Medical.
• Attend in-house emergency scenario practice with the Performance and Medical team
• Assist in updating training ground and stadium MEAPs with the Club Doctor Collaboration and Communication
• Work closely with senior physiotherapists, the club doctor, sports scientists, S&C coaches, and technical staff to ensure a holistic approach to player health and performance
• Maintain clear and effective communication with players, providing support and guidance on injury management and rehabilitation
• Contribute to regular meetings and reviews, providing insights and updates on player health and injury status
• Support in the provision of education for players and staff on health maintenance and performance optimisation, where appropriate
• Travel to, and attend, appointments with players to see specialists within our network of medical professionals, as required
Data Management
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all players, including injury reports, treatment notes, and rehabilitation progress
• Assist in the collection and analysis of performance data to subsequently inform key decisions around individualised player management and program design Professional Development and Research
• Foster a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the department
• Participate in ongoing professional development activities, including attending workshops, conferences, and training sessions
• Stay current with the latest research and advancements in sports medicine, physiotherapy, and sports science to incorporate evidence-based practices within treatment and rehabilitation programs

Mentorship and Support
• Support junior medical staff and interns, providing guidance and assistance as needed
• Foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the medical team

Research and Innovation:
• Maintain awareness, both individually and for managed staff, of the latest research and advancements in performance science.
• Implement evidence-informed practices and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Support innovative practice evolution, internal research, and external collaboration where relevant to supporting performance outcomes.

Player Welfare and Support:
• Collaborate with Performance Psychology and Player Care to contribute to understanding and supporting players individual needs.
• Provide holistic support to players, addressing both physical and psychological aspects performance, whilst also being mindful to when clinical psychological support may be required.

Compliance and Ethics:
• Ensure all practices comply with relevant sports regulations and ethical standards.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professional integrity in all interactions with players and staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
• A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a professional sporting environment with elite athletes
• Excellent ability to demonstrate logical and evidence-based clinical reasoning skills
• Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal injuries, rehabilitation techniques, and injury prevention strategies
• Sound knowledge and ability to profile/screen elite athletes, including use of VALD equipment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Competent IT Skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, to support training sessions and matches
• Ability to work calmly under pressure
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Self-motivated, open-minded, with an excellent work ethic

Qualifications
Essential
o BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy and registration with CSP & HCPC.
o FA ATTMiF qualification or equivalent
o Valid UK Driving License

Desirable
o MSc in Sports Medicine or equivalent
o UKSCA/NSCA S&C Accreditation or equivalent
Due to the nature of the role, travel throughout the UK will be required as directed by their line manager.
The role holder is required to hold a valid, clean UK driving licence.
This role will be required to have a DBS Enhanced Criminal Record Check.
