We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic team player to our Orthopaedic department. The successful candidate will join the trauma rota and will be expected to function within our Major Trauma Service. We are looking for a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon to deliver paediatric trauma theatre care on a semi-urgent basis as well as paediatric orthopaedic outpatient and elective theatre work. There will also be a commitment to run an adult trauma theatre list. Our region services the population of Dundee, Angus, Perthshire and North Fife. There are currently 22 consultants in Tayside, 16 of who provide the out of hours cover. Our service is provided at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, Perth Royal Infirmary and Stracathro Hospital. All of our unscheduled care is provided at Ninewells Hospital. Elective activity is performed primarily at Perth and Stracathro Hospitals.
Tayside also offers a great professional challenge to those interested in academia. The department enjoys close links with the University Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics (UDOTS), which hosts a well renowned and established MChOrth course and Gait lab, and the Medical School with whom we organise the undergraduate MSK teaching throughout the medical curriculum. We are home to the East of Scotland Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery training programme with 16 Specialty Trainees. We take great pride in the quality of our postgraduate training.

Applicants must have full GMC registration, a licence to practice and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration CESR or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. Start date by negotiation.
