Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will work at SpR level and join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology medical team at York and Scarborough Hospitals. The Post holder will be competent in basic skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and engage in all the duties incumbent in that role.
This is not an approved training position; however, you will receive the following;
1. Named clinical supervisor
2. Local Induction and information pack outlining internal training courses/opportunities available to doctors in these non-approved training positions
3. Individual Personal Development Plan and annual Appraisal - Individual access to the NHS e-appraisal system (funded by the Trust for posts that are six months or longer)
4. Funding and paid time available for study leave (£500 per annum pro-rata)
5. Support towards obtaining Alternative Certificate confirming achievement of foundation competencies, to aid those who want to access a recognised training position in the future” ALS, ATLS, CcRISP and TILS are all provided locally. You will have a designated clinical supervisor during your appointment and opportunities for support by trained mentors. Regular timetabled teaching sessions will take place to support the service-based learning.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
13. MRCOG Part 3
14. Completion of minimum 4-years’ full-time postgraduate training, or equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis, or other equivalent demonstrable experience and competencies
15. Holder of license to practise with the General Medical Council
16. BLS, ALS or ATLS, PROMPT or equivalent
Desirable criteria
17. In depth experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
18. Interest in and evidence of progression towards the portfolio pathway (previously known as CESR)
19. Substantive NHS experience for at least 36 months
Clinical Practice / Teaching
Essential criteria
20. Ability to demonstrate broad experience and skill in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
21. Evidence that the registrar is entrustable with minimal indirect Consultant supervision
22. Knowledge of good medical practice and the General Medical Council requirements
23. Commitment to and evidence of continuing professional development and appraisal
24. Ability to teach clinical skills
25. Evidence of co-ordinating teaching sessions in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
