We are looking for an enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist to join our team in Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB.

Here in CTMUHB we are looking for innovate solutions to enable us to respond to the challenges of delivering Cellular Pathology Services. This includes the development of Digital Pathology and developing our team to enable them to reach their potential. If you would like to be a part of that process then we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be HCPC registered and a qualified Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Cellular Pathology. Personal skills, a flexible approach to the service, be able to multi task, be self motivated, work well under pressure on their own initiative and as part of a team.

Applicants without a Specialist Portfolio will be considered on Band 5


Main duties of the job

You will work with a team of medical staff, healthcare scientists and support workers to ensure the provision of high quality cellular pathology services within Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board

You'll perform specialist automated and manual tests throughout the department and be involved in auditing processes, reagent control, and maintenance of equipment.

As a specialist Biomedical Scientist as well as rotating through all areas of the department you'll take responsibility within a specialism supporting innvoation as well as providing training and ensuring compliance with ISO15189 standard.

You'll support in the day-to-day supervision of Medical Laboratory Assistants and Associate Practioners within the department

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months, until 30th September 2026 to cover other absence. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Personal attributes

* Flexibility to the service


Knowledge

* Specialist knowledge of cellular pathology.
* Knowledge of UKAS


Skills

* Communication - written and verbal
* Ability to plan and organise own work
* Ability to make analytical judgements and technical decisions
* Team leadership skills


Experience

* Experience of working in a cellular pathology laboratory as a HCPC registered professional
* Experience of using LIMS
* Experience of UKAS and QMS
* Candidate must be HCPC registered
* BSc accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
* MSc in Biomedical sciences.
