What you’ll be doing
As a Graduate Materials Technician imagine your role as being the quality checker for building materials.
In this role, you will learn practical materials engineering related to earthworks, aggregates, concrete, and similar products, including technical, commercial and environmental aspects. You will undertake ground investigations and testing of materials in accordance with required standards, both in the laboratory and on construction sites.
Additionally, you will ensure all works are undertaken safely in accordance with required processes and maintain equipment to standards required by the Laboratory Manager.
Who we’re looking for
To succeed in this role, undergraduate study in Geography, Geology, Ecology or Earth Sciences would be most suitable.

It’s designed to help you transition into your chosen field and build a successful career path. To be eligible, you must obtain a minimum 2:2 Honours degree before starting the role.
This role involves regular site‑based visits, including travel on‑site and between locations. Before joining Balfour Beatty, you must hold a full UK driver’s license.
