Overview

This is a bank contract Care Assistant role, with night shifts only, at Avery Healthcare in Newcastle under Lyme. The role involves delivering high standards of personal care to residents, recognizing and understanding clinical risk areas, and acting courteously towards residents and their visitors. Avery Healthcare is one of the UKs largest providers of luxury elderly care homes, offering exceptional care across its growing network of over 100 homes.


Job responsibilities

* Deliver high standards of personal care and contribute fully to the care team to ensure continuity of services to residents.
* Assist residents in personal hygiene care, aiming for optimum independence, dignity and respect at all times.
* Recognise and understand clinical risk areas in residents (e.g., weight loss, pressure sores, risk of falls, signs of infection) and escalate identified risks promptly.
* Act courteously towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
* Practice safe systems of work across the range of tasks.

About you / qualifications

To be successful, you should demonstrate caring values and be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Experience is not required as Avery offers a thorough induction and training programme to ensure confidence in your role.

* Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
* Demonstrate initiative and be respectful towards residents and others in the home.
* Be an efficient worker who can carry out reasonable instructions from other team members.
* Be adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

* A DBS Disclosure check, the cost of which will be met by Avery Healthcare.
* Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

Qualifications

* No prior experience required, as Avery provides a thorough induction and training programme. However, you must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate initiative, be respectful toward residents and staff, work efficiently, and be adaptable to cover varying responsibilities on short notice.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and may require a submission for Disclosure to the DBS to check for any previous criminal convictions.
