Job Overview
Our Belfast audit team focuses on working with some of Northern Ireland’s largest and fastest-growing businesses. We provide audit and assurance services to fast-growing and established sectors of the NI economy, including Retail and Consumer, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Hospitality, Technology, Information & Communications and Entertainment.
Responsibilities
* Liaise with the engagement leader, keeping them informed of issues.
* Ensure that all jobs and fees are included in the staff requisitions by liaising with other managers and/or administrators.
* Review staff allocation and compare with original requisition and budgeted fees.
* Agree timetable with administrator and individual managers.
* Identify if PwC staff need training on the administrator systems and arrange as needed.
* Organise and review work (delegation as agreed with the engagement leader).
* Allocate costs on a timely basis and inform managers of the basis of allocation and costs before costs hit codes.
* Keep on top of the status of jobs as a result of changes in client timings/staff allocations.
* Attend manager meetings and discuss workload with staff on a timely basis.
Individual Responsibilities
* Review client audit files from planning through to completion, incorporating review of financial statements and ensuring compliance with firm methodology.
* Conduct engagement assessments.
* Budget and determine resource requirements.
* Organise partner and QRP (quality review partner) meetings for both planning and completion.
* Draft board reports, engagement letters and audit representation letters.
* Develop client relationships.
* Liaison in relation to planning of cross‑funds with lead manager.
* Inform lead manager of changes in requirements of staff/timing of job.
* Appraisals for staff members.
* Assume a coaching performance‑management role that aligns staff development with our Connected Thinking.
* Network in the local business community.
* Prepare and deliver competitive audit proposals.
* Participate in recruitment activities at graduate level.
Experience and Education
* At least 8 years practice accounting experience in a Big 4 firm or other international accounting firm.
* Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent from a recognised international accounting institution.
* Detailed understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS.
Skills and Personal Qualities
* Solid track record of demonstrated career achievements and academic excellence.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Commitment to exceptional client service and intellectual curiosity.
* Ability to interact with various levels of client and firm management.
* Detailed understanding of UK and Irish GAAP and GAAS; PCAOB and US GAAP experience desirable but not required.
* Excellent project management skills and ability to manage relationships at all levels within PwC and within the client’s organization.
* Proven leadership, organisational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work in a multitasked, fast‑paced and changing environment.
* Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build trusted relationships, including experience in business development activities.
