We are recruiting on behalf of a major UK airport for a Programme Engineering Director to lead the design and engineering delivery of a landmark £1bn transformation programme. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the infrastructure of one of the UK's fastest-growing airports.
The Role:
The Programme Engineering Director will serve as the single point of accountability for all engineering and design matters across a multi-year capital programme. This includes terminal expansion, airfield development, baggage systems, IT, and commercial/retail fit-outs. You will lead technical governance, design assurance, standards compliance, and consultant performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead end-to-end engineering delivery across all programme workstreams
* Manage design and engineering consultants, including technical advisor appointments
* Oversee technical standards, design compliance, and value engineering
* Support procurement strategy, partner selection, and contract management
* Define performance metrics and support programme governance and reporting
* Lead the engineering derogations process and statutory technical compliance
Candidate Profile:
Chartered Engineer with a minimum of 15 years' senior-level infrastructure delivery experience
Extensive background in complex engineering projects (ideally in aviation, transport or regulated environments)
Proven leadership of multidisciplinary design teams and consultants
Strong knowledge of technical compliance, safety standards, and CDM regulations
Excellent stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and communication skills
