We are currently recruiting for an PLC Systems Engineer to join the amazing team at our Linford Block Plant, which is located close to Stanford-le-Hope in Essex. The site is easily accessible from Dagenham, Erith, Barking, Wanstead, Walthamstow, Woolwich, Greenwich, Dartford, Sidcup, London, Bromley, Sevenoaks, Chingford, Waltham Cross, Hackney and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
PLC Systems Engineer designs, programs, commissions, and maintains Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems for industrial automation, focusing on hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, optimizing performance, and ensuring reliability in manufacturing/process environments, using platforms like Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, alongside HMIs, SCADA, and drives to improve efficiency and reduce errors
Your responsibilities will include (not exhaustive):
1. Design and develop PLC programs for new and existing systems
2. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC hardware and software
3. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to implement system enhancements
4. Conduct routine maintenance and updates to PLC systems
5. Optimise PLC performance to improve manufacturing efficiency and reliability
6. Own and lead the implementation of a Risk Based Assessment programme for all PLC systems on site to include current assets and future upgrades
7. Ensure management of change practices are followed for all modifications, upgrades or project work to PLC related systems on site
8. Have a proven track record of successful people management, management of engineering operations, delivering large scale CAPEX projects and managing large budgets
9. Promoting the maintenance management system, ensuring the application of maintenance procedures, methods and best practices
10. Assisting the Engineering department in achieving its budget targets through the efficient use of materials and replacement parts
11. Develop and improve the knowledge and skills of engineers, fitters and apprentices by providing training and support on PLC systems and functionalities
12. Involvement with maintaining Health and Safety rules and regulations and ensure all Safe Systems of Work are signed off and complied with leading towards a target of zero harm for personnel and contractors
13. Lead in resolving complex technical issues or failures as they arise
14. Continuous review of plant availability and performance, Identifying gaps, root causes and subsequent improvement activity

The successful applicant in the role of Automation and Controls PLC Engineer will be instrumental in the future development and support of our culture to achieve the benefits available through development strategies. You will have experience in this role from a similar heavy manufacturing industry environment, this experience will be essential.
Automation and Controls PLC Engineer - Qualifications/Requirements/Capabilities:
15. ESSENTIAL - BEng or MEng in a role related discipline - Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field
16. Strong understanding of PLC hardware and software, including programming languages such as ladder logic
17. Familiarity with industrial control systems and automation standards
18. PLC Programming, Ladder Logic, SCADA, HMI Design, Electrical Circuit Design
19. Automation Systems and Industrial Networking
20. Rockwell Automation, Siemens & Allen Bradley PLCs
