Overview
North Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust collaborate within the University Hospitals Tees structure to develop a central Tees Valley pathology hub. The role supports multidisciplinary teams across the North Tees site and other Tees Valley Pathology sites, providing comprehensive cellular pathology services to the population of Teesside, Durham and parts of Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
Responsibilities
* Routine case reporting including frozen section reporting for general surgical cases.
* Sub‑specialty team reporting of complex resection specimens; a declared interest in a sub‑specialist area of cellular pathology is advantageous.
* Advisory support to clinical colleagues, discussion of histopathological findings, and contribution to audit and monitoring of clinical services.
* Pathology support to one or more cancer multidisciplinary teams and supervision and training of technical staff within the directorate.
* Maintain relevant CPD activity and contribute to service planning and development.
Qualifications
* Consultant Cellular Pathologist with expertise in cellular pathology.
* Interest or diagnostic cytology expertise may be considered for inclusion in the cytology reporting rota.
* Digital reporting proficiency; commitment to attend other hospital sites in Tees Valley Pathology as necessary.
