Cyclox is seeking new Oxford-based trustees, preferably with financial and fundraising experience, who are committed to improving cycling in Oxford.
What difference will you make?
Cyclox's mission is to advocate, collaborate and engage with key stakeholders to raise awareness of cycling and to improve cycling provision in Oxford.
* Advocate: lobby key decision makers such as the City and County Councils and the two universities.
* Collaborate: work with local active travel groups, the universities and other partners.
* Engage: listen to and learn from members and communities.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for people with a finance or fundraising background, committed to improving cycling in Oxford.
What will you be doing?
A trustee should:
* Support and provide advice on Cyclox’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
* Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
* Oversee Cyclox’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
* Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
* Ensure that key risks are identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
* Review and approve Cyclox’s financial statements.
* Contribute to regular reviews of Cyclox’s governance. Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
* Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Cyclox’s interests, to the exclusion of personal or third-party interests.
* Contribute to the broader promotion of Cyclox’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, knowledge and contacts.
* Maintain good communications and working relationships with partner organisations and other agencies in Oxfordshire.
As a small charity, trustees may be actively involved beyond Board meetings, including scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, advising on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other activities where the trustee has special expertise.
We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. Specifically, we are looking for people to help with fundraising and finance, with a view to becoming treasurer. A substantial background in finance and/or fundraising would be very useful.
