We’re looking for a Chemical Processing & Laboratory Manager to take the lead on chemical processing, lab operations, and quality across our Panels & Profiles business. Your expertise will help us deliver consistent product performance, support manufacturing teams, and drive innovation. What you will do You’ll be the site’s technical lead for foam chemistry, ensuring our PIR insulated panels consistently meet both current and future performance and quality standards. A key part of the role will be applying your specialist chemical knowledge to support the continuous production process. You’ll monitor chemical performance, analyse manufacturing data and identify opportunities to improve yield, reduce waste and drive cost efficiencies. You’ll also oversee the quality assurance of all batch chemicals used in production, including both in-house blended and externally supplied materials, ensuring the right controls and verification processes are in place. Alongside this, you’ll administer and maintain the site’s Quality Management System, ensuring continued compliance with ISO 9001 and supporting a strong quality culture across the operation. Process safety is another important part of the role. Working closely with the Process Safety Engineer and wider Engineering and Manufacturing teams, you’ll contribute to hazard studies, process mapping and incident investigations, helping to strengthen safety standards and ensure safe, resilient operations. You’ll lead the laboratory team, support their technical development, and work collaboratively across the business to solve technical challenges and improve plant performance. What you will need You’ll combine strong scientific knowledge with confident people leadership. To succeed in this role, you’ll need: A degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a closely related field. Experience managing a laboratory environment, including safe chemical handling and good lab practice. A solid understanding of foam, polyurethane, or similar chemical systems (or a willingness to quickly learn). The ability to analyse data, understand trends and make informed decisions. Strong communication skills – you can translate complex technical information clearly. Leadership ability with experience coaching, guiding and developing others. Confidence working across departments and influencing colleagues at all levels. A detail‑focused approach and the ability to work independently when needed.
