Are you passionate about supporting tenants and landlords in Bristol’s private rented sector?
Join our Housing Regulation Team and play a vital role in ensuring fair, safe, and lawful housing across the city. To help renters, you will use the laws that protect tenants, the Council’s licensed property conditions, and we anticipate the imminent Renters Rights Bill.
This is an opportunity to start at the beginning of a generational change that will transform the landscape of private renting.
What will I be doing?
As a Caseworker, you’ll be part of a dedicated team working to resolve tenancy issues and enforce the law. Your responsibilities will include:
* Investigating and resolving tenancy disputes to help save tenancies
* Providing advice to landlords and tenants
* Compiling cases for prosecution and financial penalties
* Maintaining accurate and detailed case records
What do I need to have?
* A degree-level qualification and significant experience in housing, especially in the private housing sector; or
* A relevant HND/BTEC or equivalent in Housing, Environmental Health, Surveying, etc., with significant private sector experience; or
* Substantial experience in housing, with a focus on the private sector, and experience in providing frontline services to the public.
* Basic knowledge of legislation and regulations relevant to the private housing sector.

If appointed, there are opportunities for career progression to Level 2 Private Housing Caseworker (up to £40,476) or Senior Environmental Health Housing Officer (up to £44,711) through completion of assessed competencies. Further details will be provided at interview.
There may also be opportunities to work in other areas of the Private Housing Service, such as Rented Property Standards or Licensing. Please contact us if interested.
