As a Caseworker, you’ll be part of a dedicated team working to resolve tenancy issues and enforce the law. Your responsibilities will include:

* Investigating and resolving tenancy disputes to help save tenancies
* Providing advice to landlords and tenants
* Compiling cases for prosecution and financial penalties
* Maintaining accurate and detailed case records

What do I need to have?

* A degree-level qualification and significant experience in housing, especially in the private housing sector; or
* A relevant HND/BTEC or equivalent in Housing, Environmental Health, Surveying, etc., with significant private sector experience; or
* Substantial experience in housing, with a focus on the private sector, and experience in providing frontline services to the public.
* Basic knowledge of legislation and regulations relevant to the private housing sector.

For a full list of requirements, please see the role’s person specification. You will need to demonstrate how you meet the essential requirements in your application.

If appointed, there are opportunities for career progression to Level 2 Private Housing Caseworker (up to £40,476) or Senior Environmental Health Housing Officer (up to £44,711) through completion of assessed competencies. Further details will be provided at interview.

There may also be opportunities to work in other areas of the Private Housing Service, such as Rented Property Standards or Licensing. Please contact us if interested.

Why Bristol City Council?

We offer a dynamic and supportive work environment, with opportunities for skill development within a high-profile organization.

Benefits include flexible working, flexitime, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and generous annual leave. You will also contribute to making Bristol a better place.
