Thorn Baker are currently seeking an experienced Plater Welder with a strong background in structural steel to join our clients growing team in Staveley, Chesterfield. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be involved in a variety of projects within the structural steel sector.
Key Responsibilities:
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
* Fabricate and assemble one off or small batch structural steel pieces.
* Weld steel parts to exact specifications.
* Perform quality checks to ensure finished work meets safety and quality standards.
* Work with minimal supervision, ensuring a high standard of workmanship.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Plater Welder, particularly within the structural steel industry.
* Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and processes.
* Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
* Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.
* Knowledge of health and safety standards in a workshop environment.
* Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
* A valid welding certification (preferred but not essential).
Benefits:
* Pay £16ph whilst on probation, this could increase to up to £18ph once permanent dependant on skills.
* Temp to permanent opportunity
* Monday to Thursday 6:00am - 16:30pm, Fridays off
