Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 2 Clerical Officer to join our admin and clerical team in Genetics based at the International Centre for Life.
The successful applicant will join a team who support Highly Specialised Neuromuscular Service, supporting our clinical teams in delivery of specialised care to our patients across the region and beyond. This is a full-time post, Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable individual to join our team. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.

Main duties of the job
Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and word processing skills. The successful applicant will be required to work within a large multi-disciplinary team and be capable of managing a varied workload.
You should be familiar and confident with Microsoft Office packages and experience of working within the NHS would be advantageous.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* The post holder will perform A variety of clerical duties within a team providing efficient and effective support to the clinical and admin teams in Genetics.
* Dealing with incoming and outgoing post.
* Managing referrals to the service, both paper and electronic.
* Production of clinic and other ad hoc patient letters.
* Dealing with telephone calls from the users of the departmental services.
* Daily postal duties.
* Print address labels for outside Hospitals as required, amend database of addresses as changes occur.
* Photocopying as required.
* Reception cover as required.
* Training Immunology staff to enable them to cover, when necessary, clerical duties within the department.
Person specification
Qualifications & Education
* English and Maths GCSE grade 9-4 (A-C) or equivalent level of qualification
Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of office procedures
* Knowledge of medical terminology Experience in health‑related discipline
