Product Designer
Location: Poole, Dorset
Hours: 39 hours (Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 5.00pm Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm)
Salary: £26,000

About the role – Product Designer:
We are currently looking for a charismatic and focused Product Designer to join our client's talented design team. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a desire to work in a fast-paced creative role. You will be responsible for designing and developing both interior and exterior lighting products from initial concept through to final prototypes for leading national accounts and in-house brands.
You will need to be a strong communicator with a desire to work in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Take an active role in the conceptualisation and design development of new products.
* Plan and execute design projects based on given briefs and schedules, ensuring designs meet all requirements for form, aesthetics, technical quality, and costing.
* Bring fresh and innovative ideas at each phase of the design development process.
* Communicate with team members to ensure the appropriate execution of projects.
* Create engaging visual product presentations for customers and liaise with national account customers.
* Determine materials, construction, colour, and surface finishes.
* Liaise directly with manufacturing partners to reduce development lead times and increase speed to market.
Experience and skills required for the role:
* A BA in Industrial Design or Product Design is essential.
* Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator.
* Excellent hand-drawing and 2D visualisation skills.
* Knowledge of 3D design software such as Fusion 360, Solidworks, Creo, or Rhino.
* The ability to visualise designs as 3D models and mock-ups using an in-house workshop.
* The ability to interpret technical drawings and translate them into a usable format for manufacturing.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with rendering packages like Key Shot is an advantage but is not essential.
* The ability to travel independently as and when required.
