Overview

Fife Neuro Rehabilitation Service is a multi-disciplinary team providing expert stroke and neurological rehabilitation to adults across in patient, out patient, and community settings.

Due to service redesign, we are seeking an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Neuro Rehabilitation Team.

You will contribute to the delivery of high quality, person centred care for adults referred to the service. The role includes a key focus on vocational rehabilitation, supporting individuals to return to work or meaningful activity following a neurological event.

As a Band 6 clinician, you will work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to assess and treat individuals recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and progressive neurological disorders. You will provide specialist assessment, treatment, and case management to maximise independence, safety, and quality of life, demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning and autonomous practice.

Essential Criteria

* Significant experience with clinical experience in acute stroke, rehabilitation or a related speciality
* Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills
* Knowledge and application of occupational therapy models of practice within rehabilitation
* Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical presentations at a senior level
* Competency with basic IT systems and confidence working as part of a collaborative MDT

Desirable Criteria

* Experience or specialist interest in neuro-rehabilitation or stroke rehabilitation
* Previous involvement in vocational rehabilitation or return to work pathways

Qualifications

A degree in Occupational Therapy is essential. Evidence of relevant training specific to neurological or stroke rehabilitation would be advantageous. Applicants should be registered with HCPC.

Candidates will be required to attend face to face interviews.

For informal enquiries please contact Clare McDonald, Principal Occupational Therapist on 01592 226 823.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

Equal Opportunity & Right to Work

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. All applicants are required to confirm their right to work in the UK in their application. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK), European Community (EC) or European Economic Area National please state the visa category under which you are legally entitled to work in the UK on your application form and the expiry date of your leave to remain in the UK.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licensed Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found in the government website.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
