We’re looking for someone with great people skills, who loves to inspire and delight by providing top-quality experiences for visitors, to join us as a Senior Visitor Experience Officer at Erddig Hall and Gardens in Wrexham, Wales.
As a Senior Visitor Experience Officer, you’ll be responsible for the design, creation and delivery of a year-round offer of seasonal programming, events and activities at the property. This role supports the Visitor Experience Manager in making sure everything runs smoothly in what is a complex and lively visitor business.
We’d love you to bring your skills to the biggest conservation charity in Europe. There’s always something to share with our visitors, and it will be your job to make sure we’re doing that all year round. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative person to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis at Erddig Hall and Gardens.

What it's like to work here
No two days are ever the same and this is a hands-on job both planning and physically creating our visitor offer at the property. You will be happiest in an active, fast-paced environment where you will be delivering an event such as Easter while simultaneously forward planning for future pieces of programming such as Christmas.You’ll have plenty of opportunities to talk to visitors, introducing them to all that makes Erddig so special. You will also be managing and supervising others, including volunteers.
What you'll be doing
As a champion of exceptional visitor experiences, you’ll join a high performing team which will include regular weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.
You will be creative but also highly organised and detail orientated, working with the wider team to create memorable days out for visitors through our core offer alongside additional programming such as trails, craft sessions, exhibitions, opportunities for play and events.
You'll also be part of our duty management rota and sometimes may need to get stuck in and help wherever you’re needed, to keep the property running smoothly and ensure we maintain our high presentation standards.
Who we're looking for

•Strong understanding of how to design and deliver programming that appeals to broad and diverse audiences.
•Deep understanding of how to use data and research to shape inclusive, relevant, and engaging visitor experiences.
•Ability to develop medium to long term plans that align with organisational goals and audience needs.
•Knowledge of storytelling, interpretive planning, and curatorial practices that bring heritage to life.
•Strong people management skills, including coaching, performance management, and team motivation.
•Understanding of operations management, including risk and compliance.
Criteria for all other applicants:
•Experience in designing offers to improve visitor experience or public engagement in a heritage, museum, or cultural setting.
•Experience designing or co creating a series of public programming and events.
•Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external partners to co create experiences.
•Understanding of operations management including risk, compliance, and collections care.
