Health & Safety Manager Full-time On-site Engineering / Technical Environment This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and well-qualified Health & Safety professional with proven breadth and depth of H&S knowledge to join a successful, forward-thinking engineering organisation. This position reports directly to the Technical Director and requires the experience and confidence to operate autonomously on agreed tasks and initiatives. Due to the nature of the role, this is a full-time, on-site position. Key Tasks & Responsibilities The responsibilities outlined below are intended as a guide and are not exhaustive. The post holder will be expected to undertake additional duties appropriate to their experience and qualifications when required. Work closely with the Technical Director to support business objectives and deliver an efficient, effective Health & Safety service ensuring statutory complianceAct as the first point of contact for all Health & Safety matters, providing professional advice and guidance to Directors, Managers and employeesRemain up to date with Health & Safety legislation, developments and best practice, advising senior leadership on required changesProactively advise the Board on emerging and ongoing Health & Safety issuesDevelop, review and implement Health & Safety policies, procedures and documentation in line with legislation and business needsMaintain Health & Safety KPIs and present monthly reports in person at Board meetingsTrack and complete actions arising from Board meetings and report progress monthlyLead and deliver agreed Health & Safety projects and initiativesMonitor, audit and review Health & Safety performance against agreed audit schedules and implement corrective actions where requiredCreate, review and maintain risk assessments and safe working procedures covering workshop activities, machinery, COSHH, fire safety, lone and remote working, DSE, overseas travel and general operationsSupport Project and Sector Managers during project planning to ensure Health & Safety requirements are embedded from proposal stageProvide ongoing Health & Safety support during project deliveryLead day-to-day responsibility for key Health & Safety areas including accident reporting, waste, COSHH, machine safety, fire, first aid, DSE and overseas travelMonitor hazardous waste and arrange appropriate disposal with approved contractorsWork with Facilities and designated Fire Marshals to maintain fire safety systems, drills, alarms and proceduresProvide cover for Facilities management duties when requiredDeliver Health & Safety inductions and initial training for new starters Qualifications Degree qualified (2:1 or above) or equivalent experienceNEBOSH Diploma (or higher)Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working towards)
