Vickerstock are proudly working in partnership with a well-established food manufacturer in the Newry area who are actively seeking to recruit a Hygiene Supervisor to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and experienced individual to play a key role in upholding the highest hygiene and food safety standards on site.

Your Day to Day as the successful Hygiene Supervisor
As Hygiene Supervisor, you will work closely with the Hygiene Manager and take day-to-day responsibility for supervising the hygiene team. You will ensure all cleaning operations are carried out efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with food safety and internal audit standards. The role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a hands-on approach to maintaining an audit-ready site.
Key Responsibilities Include:
6. Supervise and coordinate the hygiene team - rota planning, task allocation, holiday cover, and training
7. Ensure all cleaning procedures align with site schedules and hygiene standards
8. Oversee Health & Safety and COSHH compliance within the hygiene team
9. Manage PPE usage, cleaning materials, and stock control
10. Support technical and engineering teams with post-maintenance cleans
11. Deliver hygiene training and assist in onboarding new staff
12. Conduct GMP and hygiene audits, resolving non-conformances swiftly
13. Assist with microbiological investigations and root cause analysis
14. Maintain full audit readiness at all times
What You Need to Succeed:
15. Previous experience in a hygiene role within a food manufacturing or similar environment
16. Supervisory or team-leading experience in a production/hygiene setting
17. Good understanding of COSHH regulations and chemical handling
18. Solid grasp of Health & Safety standards
19. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
20. Ability to thrive under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Desirable (Not Essential):
21. Level 2 (or higher) Food Hygiene Certificate
22. COSHH Training Certification
23. IOSH Managing Safely or similar H&S qualification
