Graduate English Academic Mentor Location: Trafford, Manchester Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity Weekly Pay: £500 – £600 Are you a motivated English graduate eager to begin a career in education? Schools across Trafford, Manchester are currently looking to appoint a Graduate English Academic Mentor to support their English departments. This Graduate English Academic Mentor position offers an excellent opportunity for graduates who are considering teacher training and want to gain meaningful classroom experience before progressing onto programmes such as PGCE, Schools Direct, or Teach First. The Graduate English Academic Mentor role is designed for aspiring teachers who want to develop their skills, gain practical school experience, and build confidence working with secondary students. About the Role Working as a Graduate English Academic Mentor, you will support students and teachers across the English department while gaining valuable insight into the day-to-day life of a secondary school. Responsibilities include: Supporting pupils during KS3 and KS4 English lessons. Delivering targeted 1:1 and small group sessions to strengthen literacy and written communication. Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom engagement. Helping students improve confidence with reading, writing, and analysis. Supporting with lesson preparation, marking, and tracking student progress where required. Developing a strong understanding of teaching practice and school environments as a Graduate English Academic Mentor. Candidate Requirements Schools are looking for enthusiastic graduates who are committed to supporting young learners. Ideal candidates for the Graduate English Academic Mentor role will have: A 2:1 degree or higher in English or a closely related subject.
