About the Role:
We are working in partnership with a leading MEP contractor to recruit a Mechanical Commissioning Manager for a major commercial and pharmaceutical build based in Oxford. This is a critical hire for a fast-paced project, and the role is available on both a freelance (CIS) or permanent basis.
You will report directly to the Mechanical Project Manager and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical commissioning across the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will have a proven background in both commercial and pharmaceutical sectors—applications without experience in these sectors will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the mechanical commissioning process from pre-commissioning through to final handover.
2. Liaise with the project management team, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure seamless execution of commissioning activities.
3. Review and develop commissioning plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
4. Manage and coordinate all testing and validation works in compliance with industry and project standards.
5. Ensure all documentation is completed accurately including O&M manuals, commissioning logs, and validation reports.
6. Identify and resolve commissioning issues quickly and efficiently.
7. Attend regular site and client meetings, reporting progress and raising any potential risks or delays.
Requirements:
8. Proven experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Manager on commercial and pharmaceutical projects – essential.
9. Strong understanding of HVAC, BMS, and associated mechanical systems.
10. Ability to lead and coordinate multiple stakeholders through the commissioning phase.
11. Excellent organisational and communication skills.
12. CSCS card, SMSTS or equivalent certifications desirable.
