Wastewater Network Engineer – Home Counties
We are looking for a Wastewater Network Engineer to join our Home Counties networks team. This role will be field‑based, and you will be expected to work and travel within the Home Counties area.
* Base Location: Hockford (STW) - GU24 0DE.
* Working Pattern or hours: 38 Hours Monday‑Friday, plus standby rota paid extra.
* Full UK driving licence essential.
* Primarily based in the South, with standby coverage for the North.
What you’ll be doing as a Wastewater Network Engineer
* Day‑to‑day operation of the waste network, resolving sewer collapses, blockages, flooding of customers’ homes, and pollution to watercourses.
* Taking personal ownership of customer issues, responding to queries, complaints, and resolving issues.
* Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards during repairs.
* Acting as a local network expert, providing information for risk assessments and sharing information regarding network risks and other health and safety issues.
* Attending meetings with customers, councils, and the Environment Agency.
* Providing critical on‑site information to support the wider Operations team.
* Supervising contractors to ensure they work safely and adhere to company policies & procedures.
* Documenting and capturing accurate data using IT field systems.
What you should bring to the role
* Experience in a field‑based operations role within a similar organisation desirable.
* Experience in collating data and report writing.
* Self‑motivated, disciplined, can‑do attitude, ready for demanding work.
* Ownership of responding quickly to faults, curiosity to fully understand the problem, and first‑time solution focus.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with teams.
* Teamwork – working as one team with shared goals.
* Proactive, leading recommendations and improvements around the site, communicating effectively.
* Prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
* Full UK driving licence for manual vehicles essential.
